World Learning seeks a Program Associate to support the planning and implementation of the U.S. Department of State’s Leaders for Democracy Fellowship (LDF) Program. Under the supervision of the Program Officer, the Program Associate will work with professionals from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. Arabic language skills are preferred. The position requires excellent coordination, communication, and planning skills along with a detail-oriented focus and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Responsibilities

  • Support bilingual outreach and recruitment strategies.
  • Prepare pre-departure, orientation and program materials for participants.
  • Maintain participant tracking sheets;
  • Arrange program logistics, including international and domestic air and ground travel, lodging, meeting and event space, catering, and supplies and equipment;
  • Assist with preparing and tracking financial aspects of program arrangements, including per diem requests and receipts, and checks for vendors and invoices;
  • Maintain files of all the relevant documents for the exchange program and the program participants (soft and hard copies);
  • Contribute to participant monitoring and the distribution and collection of surveys
  • Conduct research in international development technical areas, for subject matter experts, in civic programs in MENA countries and in areas for technical assistance.
  • Opportunity to conduct program activities and research in English and Arabic.
  • Handle other tasks as assigned;

Requirements

  • A minimum of two years of practical experience in working on international exchange or development programs funded by the U.S. Department of State or other U.S. government agencies is preferred;
  • A relevant bachelor’s degree;
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in Arabic preferred;
  • Strong computer and internet proficiency (word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentations and web-based tools);
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively with colleagues, or persons with different national and cultural backgrounds;
  • Demonstrated accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational ability;
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously;
  • Professional experience with social media tools and platforms;
