World Learning is seeking a Math Consultant who will work closely with World Learning’s DC-based technical staff and Lebanon-based field office Math Specialist to support World Learning’s & USAID’s QITABI 2 project in Lebanon. Consultant will initially be engaged for 60 days between December 2019 and May 2020, with possibility for extension. Consultant will be required to frequently travel to Lebanon - approximate travel schedule is 2 weeks every 2 months. Consultant tasks will include:
Tasks
- Contribute to the development scope and sequence for grades 1 – 6
- Co-design trainings and associated materials
- Co-develop lesson plans for the program
- Co-develop classroom-based assessments
- Travel to country for trainings and other key meetings (expected travel date for first task is early- to mid-December 2019)
- Co-lead with the local team training and design sessions
- Contribute to research and writing for program research
Requirements
Masters or Ph.D. in mathematics education
Ph.D. strongly preferred
Candidates with Masters should have 20 years of experience
Experience teaching in primary or secondary school classrooms
Experience developing mathematics curriculum
Experience conducting teacher trainings
Knowledge of classroom-based assessments and the Early Grade Mathematics Assessments (EGMA)
Preferred: Knowledge of inclusive education
Preferred: Knowledge of French and/or Arabic
