Pre-Service Teacher Education Specialist

Pre-Service Teacher Education in Jordan (PRESTIJ)

USAID’s Pre-Service Teacher Education in Jordan (PRESTIJ) seeks to support an increased and sustainable supply of certified primary school teachers in Jordan by improving the system of pre-service teacher education programming offered by Jordanian universities, centered primarily around the implementation of the adapted Queen Rania Teacher Academy (QRTA) pre-service teacher education modules. The Pre-service Teacher Education Specialist will be responsible for coordinating program activities among stakeholders including university leadership, departmental leads, and individual faculty, key teaching modules effectively adopted.

Responsibilities

• Work with select universities and relevant Government of Jordan entities in the introduction and implementation of a sustainable and scalable pre-service teacher education program, centered primarily around the utilization of the adapted Queen Rania Teacher Academy (QRTA) Teaching Modules;

• Lead the project in ensuring that university leadership (directors, administrators, etc.) have the systems in place to analyze quality of their curricula; support in designing tailored interventions to address findings;

• Work with university departments/faculties to measure effectiveness of interventions;

• Promote peer-to-peer learning;

• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Strong knowledge of the education sector in Jordan, in particular higher education;

• Strong interpersonal communication skills; ability to fluidly communicate with university directors, rectors, and administrators;

• Knowledge of pre-service, university level training of future teachers, and the curricula included in such fields of study;

• Preferred knowledge of curricula design and adaptation;

• Proven experience designing and rolling out curricula at the university level for teacher pre-service training;

• Professional level of verbal and written fluency in English as well as in Arabic; Jordan Nationals preferred;

• Commitment to inclusive programming that encourages full participation of individuals regardless of gender, disability status, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity or other marginalized status.
